S1265. A Spanish gypsy dancer, turns from side to side, shaking her tambourine and stamping her foot, as the music plays. Probably by Lambert of Paris. This was once given as a present by the Tzar Nicholas II to the Greek Royal Family, and passed into the possession of the royal governess, who redressed it in an attractive flared pink dress and a red waist coat, but with its original shoes and stockings, The porcelain head bears the mark of Simon & Halbig, mould no. 1039. The musical movement is contained in the red plush covered base. This automaton measures 53 cm. high (21 inches). £2,950
