S502 A RARE AND UNIQUE MUSICAL BOX BY L'EPEE OF ST SUZANNE

A rare and unique 10 air antique musical box by l'epee of St Suzanne c.1893 bearing the serial number 35235. This box was possibly made as an exhibition piece or as a commission for a private collector. The movement is seated at a tilted angle, towards a drop down hinged front with a rear mirror giving a clear view of both sides during play. The mechanism is housed in a most unusual case containing a large bevelled glass window. It is stylishly veneered with well figured rosewood, birds eye maple, kingwood and boxwood banding.

S501 Antique musical box by George Baker Troll of Geneva

Antique musical box by George Baker Troll of Geneva, circa 1890, with the original tune card under the lid, the border and name printed in green, playing a good light classical programme of ten airs as listed, including Verdi, Meyer Lutz, Sullivan, Wagner & Strauss. Pinned on a cylinder 33cm x 5.5cm., serial number 14905, with a zither attachment over the comb. The musical movement is contained in a most attractive case, a domed lid centred with an elegant brass and mother of pearl cartouche. The front panel is birds eye maple edged with plain mahogany, and inlaid with box wood lines.

A beautiful small six air musical box by PVF of St Croix playing a programme of six popular tunes as pinned on a 19cm cylinder and listed on the original tune card. The lid is veneered in rosewood with inlaid boxwood lines and a good central marquetry design in coloured woods.

Playing eight popular tunes pinned on a 35.5cm cylinder. The musical movement is contained in its original case, both the domed lid and front are veneered with rosewood and inlaid with box wood lines, each is centred with a good marquetry design in coloured woods.

Large antique musical box by maker Paillard c1888.

Large antique musical box by maker Paillard Vaucher Fils of Switzerland. A very high quality mechanism with a cylinder 44cm x 7cm playing twelve airs on a tuned music comb. Accompanied by an eight beater snare drum, six engine turned tuned saucer bells topped by enameled flowers and struck by ornate coloured bees, plus an eight beater Wood block or castanet. Serial number 51167 corresponding to a date of manufacture in Ste. Croix of 1888. The movement has a double spring barrel for extended play. It is contained in a superb amboyna veneered case inlaid with kingwood banding edged with boxwood, and with ornate handles at the ends.
